Canford Heath Neighbourhood Watch works in partnership with the police and local councillors aspart of the Safer Neighbourhood Team to enhance the security and safety of residents on Canford Heath. Close link exists with nearby Watch groups.
The object is to get small groups of neighbours to keep a neighbourly watch out for each other's security and safety. One of the group, the 'Contact' member, keeps in touch with their local Co-ordinator and delivers newsletters, The Neighbourhood Watch Bulletin published about three times a year, to their group. Other crime prevention literature is available for distribution. Advice on who to contact about various issues is published in the newsletters. A small voluntary donation of £1 or more is appreciated towards the cost of the newsletter.
Neighbourhood Watch is not a group of vigilantes or nosey parkers. Members do not get involved with parking problems, motor vehicle tax evasion, trading standards, environmental issues, etc. directly. Such matters are left for individuals to deal with themselves as they wish with the relevant authorities. The Watch will of course signpost residents to appropriate contacts. Appropriate volunteers are encouraged to become Contacts, Co-ordinators or to join the Committee.
