Canford Heath Neighbourhood Watch works in partnership with the police and local councillors as part of the Safer Neighbourhood Team to enhance the security and safety of residents on Canford Heath. Close link exists with nearby Watch groups.
The object is to get small groups of neighbours, 'Contacts', to keep a neighbourly watch out for each other's security and safety. One of the group of contacts, the 'Co-ordinator', keeps in touch with their 'Area Co-ordinator' and delivers newsletters and other information. The Canford Heath Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter is published about three times a year, so it is not an onerous job delivering them to their group of 'Contacts'. Other crime prevention literature is available for distribution. Advice on who to contact about various issues is published in the newsletters. Everyone who joins Neighbourhood Watch is asked to make a small voluntary donation of £1 or more to secure their copy of the newsletter. The money also goes towards organising meetings and maintaining the web site.
Neighbourhood Watch is not a group of vigilantes or nosey parkers. 'Contacts' do not get involved with parking problems, motor vehicle tax evasion, trading standards, environmental issues, etc. directly. Such matters are left for individuals to deal with themselves as they wish with the relevant authorities. The Watch will of course signpost residents to appropriate contacts. News of current SCAMS, etc. are included in the Newsletter and published on the web site. Click on the Links Page for more information.
Appropriate 'Contacts' are encouraged to become 'Co-ordinators', 'Area Co-ordinators' or to join the Committee.
Please Contact Us if you wish to join Neighbourhood Watch.
